Time Flows By - Downtown Plano
I spent a lot of time this year photographing my neighborhood, Downtown Plano. It started early this year when I tried out time lapse photography, and spawned into a proper photo project and plenty of nightly shoots. The beginning of October saw the publishing of my first time lapse video, Welcome to Downtown Plano. After that, I've been taking an increasing number of longer exposure photographs.
Long exposure photographs have the shutter open longer for two reasons, to collect more light in dark conditions, and/or to show movement as a blur. Most of my photographs use a neutral density filter to allow for a longer shutter speed during, thus allowing me to show movement.
The photos below are all within a block or two of Downtown Plano. Blurred car lights are some of my favorites, and rarely do I show people. Texas did not see many clouds, so these photos do not have one of the typical subjects of long exposures. Most shots are with my 10 stop neutral density filter, the Lee Big Stopper.
